About B&P
Board & Plank is Craig Anthony - Realtor® at The Boulevard Company and real estate investor. I moved from Virginia to Charleston, SC in 1996 to attend graduate school. After receiving my Master’s degree, I began a career in web site development and software engineering. During this period I worked with several high-end real estate brokerages - building custom websites with MLS feeds. Later in my tech career I spent four years at BoomTown as a designer / front-end developer.
In 1999 I purchased my first home in downtown Charleston (built in 1920) and performed a major rehab. I absolutely fell in love with the character, charm, and craftsmanship of old Charleston homes. This was the seed that would one day grow into a career in real estate and real estate investing.

Real estate investing is broad in scope - you can invest in land, parking lots, car washes, storage units, mobile home parks, hotels, apartments, laundry mats, and many more. Ultimately the path you choose is determined by your goals.
For example, I currently focus on single-family homes and multi-family homes - specifically long-term, mid-term, and short-term rental properties. My goal with these properties is to receive a bit of rental cash flow each month, to have my tenants pay off the mortgage, and to see at least 5% appreciation year over year. Eventually I’ll own a highly valuable asset free and clear. In fact, this strategy is tied directly to my retirement plan.
Some folks desire immediate cash flow (think mobile home park) while some are more concerned with property appreciation over time. Other folks want a nice balance of cash flow and appreciation. I’ll help guide you toward the appropriate investment opportunity based on your desired goals. Keep in mind that each investment category is unique and requires specific, targeted research.
